Police Expand Search For Missing 24-Year-Old Woman

Posted: 12:07 pm EST February 1, 2006Updated: 12:13 pm EST February 1, 2006

Late Wednesday morning, Orlando police expanded their search to find a missing woman. Jennifer Kesse, 24, disappeared nine days ago. Police are now looking through more wooded areas and volunteers are handing out thousands more missing person fliers.

Orlando police are calling this a new grid search. They are focusing their efforts further out from where Jennifer's car was found, concentrating mostly on wooded areas using the mounted patrol. Kesse's family was told tips that have been coming in prompted the new search.

In recent days, the sheriff's helicopter crew has been circling the brush and woods just outside the Mosaic Condos where Jennifer lives. The crew and Orlando Police Department’s mounted patrol has also been concentrating efforts very close to where Jennifer’s car was found last Thursday at the Huntington on the Green apartments at Texas and Americana.

Meanwhile, Orlando firefighters were given permission to hand out flyers while on duty, but in between calls for service, in crime-ridden areas like Parramore and Richmond Heights, where Jennifer's family and friends have been discouraged from going.

In addition, the family is now calling on the help of a national missing persons organization, called ChildWatch, hoping the added resources will make a difference.

As the days go by, more and more people are lining up to help, like veterans groups and church groups, with 50,000 more fliers expected to be handed out.
