Police Investigating New Leads In Search For Woman

Monday, February 6, 2006 – updated: 6:08 pm EST February 6, 2006

A yellow rope and a tape measure could tell investigators much more about the person they want to talk to in the search for Jennifer Kesse. Crime scene investigators were at the spot late Monday afternoon where a surveillance picture was taken outside the Huntington on the Green condos where Kesse's car was found.

In the image, the person's face is blocked, but investigators are working to figure out a lot more about whoever it is.

Monday, crime scene technicians measured the surveillance camera angle, calculating the exact height of the man in the pictures. It's one of the best leads Orlando police have into what happened to Jennifer.

"We know those images, people look at 'em and think, 'Gosh, there's not a lot there.' But it's something. You never know what someone will remember about the light pants and shirt," said Sgt. Barbara Jones, Orlando Police Department.

Police are also scouring 60 hours of surveillance video taken from nearby businesses, hoping for a clearer image of the man. Detectives know he was at the Huntington on the Green condos around the time when they think Jennifer's car was left there and he may have seen something.

"There's $115,000 sitting out there that person can claim if we can get the person that took our daughter. So if that's you or someone you recognize, call the police please," said Jennifer's father, Drew Kesse.

Jennifer's parents remain vigilant that their daughter is alive and are doing everything they can to get her back. Off-duty Orlando firefighters are actively searching mapped out areas. Hundreds of volunteers continue handing out the original flyers with Jennifer’s information and new ones that show the person of interest.

"We're looking for anything that could possibly be related to this case, anything that could have been tossed out of the car that belongs to her, anything at all really,” said volunteer Disa Evans.

Police said they have received several tips since they first released the surveillance photos on Saturday and they're following up on all of those leads.

"It's staying pretty hot. As long as it stays hot, it's good. We've got some detectives focused on a lot of the very specific parts of it. Then we, obviously, have a sergeant running the search operation. So, as long as the information's coming in and it's a place we can go, we're always excited about it. We'll always be disappointed when something doesn't pan out," said Jones.

Police are asking anyone with information about the person of interest to give a call to Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS.
