ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- Orange County deputies want to find a man who choked an elderly woman at her mailbox. She was attacked at the Shadow Hills Apartments on Milllinocket Lane, between Chickasaw Trail and the 417.

Surveillance cameras captured the whole thing.

The elderly woman was carjacked as she was getting her mail. Deputies believe the man tried to kill her and then he stole her car.

"I thought he was killing me and I was just glad my husband would know where my body was," said victim Jean Wagner.

She never thought she would be assaulted when she went to her community mail center. As she was getting her mail, a man came from out of nowhere and grabbed her from behind. On the surveillance video, the man is seen grabbing Wagner, pulling her down and then twisting her neck.

"It was such a shock. It only last a couple of minutes," Wagner said. "He twisted my neck. It hurt so bad, I thought he broke my neck."

Wagner said the suspect then took her keys from her mailbox and then took off in her car. She stayed on the ground and pretended that she was dead. She was afraid the man would was going to come back for her.

"Terrified. I've never been so scared in my life," she said.

Deputies believe the man had been watching the area and was waiting for a victim. The surveillance tape shows him lurking around the area.

Once the man left, Wagner went to the office and called 9-1-1. She said she is glad to be alive and only has a few bruises.

"It could of been worse. I'm very fortunate," she said.

Police said the man left in Wagner’s 1993 Mercury. If anyone has information on the man or the attack, please call the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.
