HOLLYWOOD, Fla. -- A heartbroken pet store owner is pleading for the public's help to catch a sneaky puppy-napper after a surveillance camera caught it all on tape.A man inside a Hollywood, Florida puppy store walked out with the merchandise, a $1,300 puggle. The video shows him as he stuffed the dog in his pants and strolled out the front door with his female accomplice right on his heels."He's a customer that we've had before. He wanted to look at a dog," said 441 Puppies employee Janice McCarty.
But this time, he did more than look. The dog he stole, a puggle, is a cross between a pug and a beagle. Not only is it a high priced dog, but it needs special care."The puggles, you have to watch their eyes, because just like the pugs, they have protruding eyes. So if by putting it in his pants, he could've scratched that dog's eye. He could've ulcerated it. He could have done damage so that the dog lost his sight,” explained store owner Tammy Worth. The pet store owners are distraught, but they hope the videotape will lead police to the dog crook. They want him caught and they want their beloved puggle back home. The pet store is offering a $1,000 reward for the puggle's safe return.
