Health Tips For Residents Dealing With Brush Fires

The wild fires are causing concern for people with respiratory problems. Health officials have already issued an alert.

People suffering from breathing problems should stay indoors. If you air conditioner has a re-circulate setting, you should use it so the outside air will not be pulled into your house.

That's also good advice for your car air conditioner.

Even if you are healthy, you might want to think twice about exercising outdoors when you smell smoke in the air.

Remember, children are more susceptible to smoke, because their lungs are still developing.

If your breathing does become labored, using a damp cloth over your nose and mouth can give you temporary relief, and don't forget to keep your medicine handy, since breathing attacks can come at any time.

If symptoms don't go away, contact your doctor right away.

Remember, use common sense. It's you best defense against the health risks created by the wildfires.
