Overnight, more than 30 students tried to carry out their senior prank at Orange County's Edgewater High School. Orlando police ended up busting the party, but the students won't face the punishment some might expect.

Orlando Police Department's midnight squad is used to responding to crimes in progress and they rushed to Edgewater High ready for bad guys armed with guns and knives.

Instead, the suspects were armed with Hershey's syrup, shaving cream and toilet paper, and they were unleashing it all on their alma mater.

With helicopters in the sky and heavily armed cops on the ground, teenagers were put in handcuffs all over a giant prank.

School may be out for the summer, but as many as three dozen graduating seniors could not stay away early Monday morning and returned to take part in what police call an Edgewater High School tradition.

This time, an officer was standing guard all night, waiting for it to happen. But there were so many kids involved, when he called for backup, a department finely-honed for its ability to respond to violent crimes in action flooded the campus, nabbing five of the teens.

Instead of pressing charges against them, Principal Rob Anderson made the five kids clean the whole mess up. Anderson said he helped the teens clean it all up and, by the time school opened Monday, everything was back to normal.

Police said they hope the massive police response will be enough to deter this year's juniors from taking part in the prank next year when they're graduating seniors, but they're not holding their breath.

Meanwhile, administrators said the teens caught in the act Sunday night wouldn’t face any extra discipline and would be able to graduate with the rest of their class on Saturday.
