VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. -- Florida Fish and Wildlife agents were still piecing together the events that led up to a dangerous boat crash on the Saint Johns River. Authorities said two boats collided at a high speed as they came around a blind corner on the river. The crash scene was southwest of Osteen, between Mud Lake and Mullet Lake near the county line.Eyewitnesses said the collision killed a dog and threw six people into the water. One of the boat's engines was still running after the crash, and a spinning propeller badly injured one girl's leg."I saw a girl go under and I just tried keeping my eye on where she went in," said Jonathan Warrington. He had been standing on shore talking to his mom by phone when he saw the crash."I looked and saw this boat come this way and I saw that boat coming that way," said Warrington. "I ran down there and, before I got to the end of the dock, they collided."William Williams was driving one of the boats. He needed surgery for a broken leg. A woman and a girl were also taken to the hospital, but doctors said they would okay.Fish and Wildlife agents were still determining who, if anyone, was responsible for the crash.
