2-Year-Old Believed Snatched From Bedroom Window

Overnight, Leesburg police issued an Amber Alert for a missing toddler Monday morning. The 2-year-old boy may have been snatched from a bedroom window.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the FBI have joined in the search for Trenton Duckett. His mom told police she was in her apartment with two friends at the time of her son's disappearance. They even watched a movie.

But, she said, when she walked into Trenton's bedroom to check on him he was gone.

Trenton Duckett is Carla Massero's only grandchild and he's missing.

"Just want him home safe," Massero said.

Trenton was last seen in his bedroom at the Windemere Villas in Leesburg around 7:00pm. When his mother came to check on him around 9:00pm, she said Trenton was gone and Leesburg police said it didn't appear that the toddler just wandered away.

"There is a sign of tampering to the exterior of the apartment that raised our concerns pretty much immediately when we were out at the scene," said Cpt. Steve Rockefeller, Leesburg Police Department.

What police didn't find on the scene was any evidence of injury.

Trenton's parents are separated. Leesburg police have interviewed a number of family members in the case and continue to conduct interviews. They said they have no suspect information at this time and, Monday morning, Leesburg police and FDLE passed out missing flyers and continued to canvass for clues in Trenton's disappearance.

"We do have a situation where the parents aren't together. We have to consider outside foul play as well as domestic situations. That's our job," Rockefeller said.

The FBI also joined the search, but it's little comfort to family members wanting to know where Trenton is and who may have him.

"If they know where Trenton is, contact Leesburg police and please return him safe," Massero said.

Leesburg police said they had more interviews to conduct Monday and still need to ask Trenton's mom more questions.
