Bru's Clues: Week 11 College Football Picks

The Clues are coming off a historic, perfect Week 10 and the overall record for the season sits at 25-20. Besides my picks, it was a great week for squinting Florida State quarterbacks.

Apparently, Jameis Winston can barely see the sidelines from the middle of the field, but is still carving up opposing defenses at a Heisman-pace.

Then you have former Nole Christian Ponder executing this fantastic Halloween costume with his wife.

The Squints – Wendy Peffercorn couple costume from “The Sandlot” wins my unofficial Halloween costume contest. That pool scene held a special place in every boys heart in the mid-90’s.

Onto the picks.

Florida State vs Wake Forest

The Seminoles are on a roll and it won’t stop this weekend in Winston-Salem. This is another one of those games that Florida State may have lost in year’s past, but not anymore. They are too talented on both sides of the ball and even their second-string players are much better than what the Demon Deacons will be rolling out there in the second half. I’m riding the hot hand of Jameis Winston.

Pick: Florida State (-34.5)

Houston vs UCF

If the Knights want to keep their dreams of a BCS bowl alive they need this win on Saturday night. George O’Leary had an extra week to get his team ready for the Cougars high-powered offense. That’s why the Knights will remain undefeated in the AAC, but I think a turnover or two from UCF keeps it close.

Pick: Houston (+10.5)

Vanderbilt vs Florida

Gator players are finding every way imaginable to suffer season-ending injuries. This week’s honor goes to offensive tackle Tyler Moore who wrecked his scooter and fractured his elbow. I can only imagine how many iphones Will Muschamp has thrown against the wall when the head trainer’s number pops up.

Vanderbilt has allowed 134 points over the past three weeks, so Gator fans may have a shot to see more than two touchdowns this week. The Florida defense still has a lot of talent, but they’ve been gashed for big plays in recent losses to Missouri and Georgia. I wouldn’t put  money on either of these teams, but expect a tight one in Gainesville.

Pick: Vanderbilt (+10.5)

Virginia Tech vs Miami

If the Hurricanes want to set up a rematch with Florida State in the ACC Championship game, this weekend’s showdown with the Hokies is likely a must-win. The Canes are without their top playmaker in Duke Johnson, so the offense now falls solely on the shoulders of quarterback Stephen Morris. He’s been erratic of late and Morris faces an incredibly tough task on Saturday. The Va-Tech defense leads the conference in total defense, rushing defense and passing defense.

Pick: Virginia Tech (+6.5)

There are three more huge games this week that could affect the outcome of the BCS picture, so let’s throw out picks for those games as well.

Baylor (-14.5) vs Oklahoma

Oregon (-10.5) @ Stanford

Alabama (-12.5) vs LSU

Enjoy the games!
