Clashes Erupt in Chile as Students Demand Reforms

Thousands of Chilean students marched through Santiago on Thursday to press demands for wide ranging education reforms, one month before a presidential election. The march - organized by Chile's Confederation of Students (CONFECH) and secondary school students - was largely peaceful, but clashes erupted as hooded protesters confronted police in the center of Santiago. Police used tear gas and water cannon to drive back the protesters.
