Deputies: Cross-dresser tried to rob CVS pharmacy

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — A cross-dressing person tried to rob a CVS pharmacy Sunday morning, Volusia County deputies said.

According to investigators, the robber entered the pharmacy on Howland Boulevard in Deltona at about 6 a.m., demanding prescription pills. The robber then claimed to be holding children hostage and claimed to have a bomb, deputies said.

The pharmacist refused to hand over pills and told the person to leave the store. The robber ran out of the front door and was not located during a perimeter search.

Witnesses told police they weren't sure if the person was a cross-dressing man or a woman. The robber is described as Hispanic, roughly 30 years old, and 5 feet 9 inches tall. The robber was wearing glasses, a green wig and black lipstick, according to investigators.
