Family of teen hurt in hit-and-run use Facebook for help to ID driver

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — The family of a 13-year-old Merritt Island girl said they are using Facebook to try to find the driver who hit her and left the scene.

Baili Filliben has a long recovery ahead of her, with broken bones and other serious injuries.

She was struck last month as she rode her bicycle along Courtenay Parkway.

Her loved ones took to Facebook, hoping someone identifies the driver who just left her there.

Baili said she can't understand why the driver didn't stop.

“I'm only 13. I don't drive, but if I hit a squirrel I would stop. I don’t understand how. You must not have a heart," said Filliben.

Baili said she is finishing the school year at home, and it will be at least six months before the pins are removed from her leg.

The Florida Highway Patrol said the driver was in a dark-colored sedan or SUV, possibly blue, with front-end damage.
