Iconic Toy Story franchise comes to Disney's Hollywood Studios

The removal of the 'hat' as the icon of Disney's Hollywood Studios marked the first of many big changes coming to the park.

After a series of attraction closures, the D23 Expo gave us a glimpse into the two new lands and attractions that will be coming to the park.

For these two extremely large expansions and reimagining of current favorites, Disney is looking towards two of its most successful franchises, Toy Story and Star Wars, to carry Disney's Hollywood Studios into the future.

Let's first take a look at Toy Story Land.

Toy Story Land will take guests to infinity and beyond in this new 11-acre land where you be shrunk down to toy size and transported into the adventurous outdoors of Andy’s backyard.

Surrounded by oversized toys that Andy has assembled using his vivid imagination, and continuing the theme of using toys like building blocks, plastic buckets, shovels, and game board pieces, Andy has designed the perfect setting for this land, which will include two new attractions for any Disney park and one expanded favorite.

The first new attraction is a family coaster inspired by Slinky Dog that promises to be filled with fun twists and turns and favorite characters from the Toy Story movies. Also from the looks of the concept art that was shared at the D23 Expo, the coaster seems to be a good length!

The second attraction coming to Toy Story Land is an Alien Saucer Attraction where the Little Green Aliens take you on a spin in your own flying saucer, but you will have to watch out for The Claw!

And finally, Toy Story Midway Mania will expand with an additional midway track that will take you into the world under Andy’s bed where you'll find more of your favorite carnival-style midway games staring your favorite Toy Story friends.

Disney's Imagineers are going to go by the level of immersion that they set when they created the PIXAR inspired areas of Disney's California Adventure, so that makes me incredibly excited.

No opening date has been announced for construction to begin or when we can expect it to be completed.
