Polar Plunge was a huge success!

Thanks to everyone who joined WFTV 9 Family Connection and our partners, along with Greg Warmoth for Special Olympics Florida’s Polar Plunge® at Aquatica, February 1, 2014. The statewide fundraiser for Special Olympics Florida raised more than $250,000 for athletes.

Aquatica, which is usually warm and tropical, chilled down their wave pool so participants could experience the “thrill of the chill” all while supporting a great cause.

How does the Polar Plunge benefit Special Olympic athletes?

Everyone deserves a chance at a happy and purposeful life. Yet people with intellectual disabilities face doubt, barriers and low expectations. For many, Special Olympics is the only place where they find an opportunity to participate in their communities, develop belief in themselves, and feel like champions.

By participating in the Polar Plunge, you’re helping us reach more people who want to participate in Special Olympics.

Over the past five years, the Polar Plunge has raised more than $1,000,000 for the athletes of Special Olympics Florida.

Thanks to everyone involved!
