Robbers target Orange County home for drugs, money in deadly home invasion, deputies say

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — A man is dead and a woman is recovering in the hospital after three armed men entered an Orange County home, demanded cash and started shooting, deputies said.

Deputies said they responded to the home on Kingbrook Lane in the Williamsburg subdivision around 1:15 a.m. Tuesday. On the scene  they found the man with life-threatening injuries and an injured woman who'd been pistol-whipped.

They said both victims were taken to the hospital, where Mehdi Ari, 25, was pronounced dead.

Homicide detectives said they believe the victims were targeted and that drugs and money were motives in the crime.

"We do not believe there is a continued risk to others in that neighborhood, and our detectives are following all leads in this case," deputies said in a news release.

The woman's identity has not been released.

The investigation into the robbery and shooting are ongoing.
