1 killed when cab crashes into women on OBT

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — A taxi cab crashed into two women in Orange County, killing one of them, state troopers said.

The crash happened on Orange Blossom Trail and Landstreet Road at about 11:30 p.m. Monday.

State troopers said the two women were not on a crosswalk, and the driver was cooperative.

Officials said it was the third similar crash in the area in the past couple of weeks.

"Orange Blossom Trail is a bad area for any pedestrians to be crossing the road. It's a six-lane divided highway. Even though the speed limit is 45 through here, people should be using the crosswalks," said Dan Willix of the Florida Highway Patrol.

The woman who survived is in critical condition, authorities said.
