Woman interviewed after shooting death of her husband in Ormond Beach

ORMOND BEACH, Fla. — The Volusia County Sheriff's Office's Major Case Unit is investigating after a 55-year-old Ormond Beach man was shot to death in his home.

Deputies were called to the home on Seabreeze Drive around 3 a.m. Sunday.

A resident in the neighborhood called 911 and said her neighbor, Doris Barrells, was banging on the door and asking her to call police because she had shot her husband.

Deputies found Sanford Olson lying on a bed with a gun beside him.

Barrells, 57, had apparently told her neighbor that the shooting was an accident.

Investigators interviewed Barrells on Sunday and said she was cooperative with the investigation.

Deputies said they are conducting more interviews to find out what led to the shooting.

They said no one will be charged before Monday.
