10-foot hole closes downtown Kissimmee road

KISSIMMEE, Fla. — A 10-foot-wide hole opened up in the middle of a downtown Kissimmee road Saturday afternoon, city officials said.

Kissimmee officials noticed the hole opening on Darkin Avenue near the railroad tracks around 1:30 p.m.

Officials have closed Darkin Avenue in both directions in that area.

The cause of the 10-foot by 10-foot hole is still unknown, but the city engineer and Toho Water Authority officials are investigating.

Rail transportation will not be affected by the hole, transit officials said.
