15-year-old boy found hanging in Palm Coast

PALM COAST, Fla. — Authorities say a 15-year-old high school freshman died despite rescue efforts by a Flagler County Sheriff's deputy and the boy's father, who found him hanging from a tree.

When Deputy Daniel Parthemore arrived at the Palm Coast home on Wednesday, Phillip Coxwell was already performing CPR on his son, Dalton.

The deputy says the teen was on the ground in front of the house. The teen had ligature marks around his neck. An electrical cord, a chair and a cell phone were at the scene.

The boy was taken to a hospital where he died about an hour later.

The Daytona Beach News-Journal reports Matanzas High School Principal Chris Pryor said the teen's family asked to use the auditorium for a gathering of the teen's friends on Friday night.
