18-year-old shot in back by uninvited guests at Winter Garden house party

WINTER GARDEN, Fla. — A man was hospitalized following a shooting at a house party in Winter Garden, Orange County deputies said.

Deputies said the trouble began when uninvited guests arrived at the home on Highland Park Drive.

The two uninvited men were turned away from the party from the host, and that created some conflict. Deputies said one of the men pulled out a gun and fired shots into the underside of the roof, and then they walked off.

However, at that point, one of the men turned around and fired more shots at the house, and that's when deputies said an 18-year-old guest was shot in the back.

Investigators said the man's injuries are not life-threatening.

"I get out here. I'm looking at my friend on the ground, been shot, and the ambulance comes, picks him up, then puts him in the ambulance, [and] then I hear, 'What's going on? What's going on?' The police show up and decide to sit all 14 of us down to decide what happened," said Witness Alex Straker.

Deputies said they are searching for the two gunmen.

"Witnesses started running and the suspects started shooting into the residence. We had a lot of witnesses stay behind and help us out with the investigation. So, the detectives will get over here and work their magic and we'll go from there," said Lt. Mark Connor of the Orange County Sheriff's Office.
