3 criminal cases dropped in wake of Fruitland Park KKK controversy

FRUITLAND PARK, Fla. — Prosecutors have dropped three criminal cases in Fruitland Park in the wake of a Klu Klux Klan controversy involving two police officers.

Earlier this month, the State Attorney’s Office was reviewing nine open cases that were investigated by officers David Borst and George Hunnewell.

The pair left the department after reports surfaces they were members of the KKK.

The State Attorney’s Office said the other six cases will go forward without the officers’ witness statements.
