LAKE COUNTY, Fla. - A day on the lake took a dangerous turn when two jet skis collided, sending three people to the hospital, including a child.
The crash happened just after 7 p.m. Tuesday on Lake Griffin in Fruitland Park.
Two of the victims had to be airlifted to the hospital. The victims had to be pulled onto shore from a dock.
Florida Fish and Wildlife investigators said two jet skis were cruising the lake.
Two adults were driving and a 6- or 7-year-old was on the back of one of them, WFTV found out.
Somehow the jet skis collided and both drivers and the child were thrown into the water.
Investigators said one of the adults was in critical condition.
"They were taking a little boy, a little kid, laid him out on the grass, stretched him out, and when the ambulances got there,
they took him on a stretcher, and said he was seriously hurt," said witness Patricia Anders.
Anders said she's lived
near the lake for more than 20 years and had never seen a crash on the lake like that one.
Fish and Wildlife investigators hauled the water crafts out of the area for further investigation.
The names of those involved were not released.
