3 in Orange County accused of buying stolen cellphones, jewelry

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Orange County deputies busted a major cellphone theft ring Thursday.

The raid happened in Orlando at the J Mart on Hiawassee and Silver Star roads.

Three people are accused of buying stolen jewelry and cellphones.

Deputies said one of the three people, Hung Nguyen, operates a used electronics booth at the front of the J-Mart and is the main suspect.

Investigators said Nguyen was encouraging people to steal more phones to bring to his shop.

Deputies said all three suspects operated booths inside the same store a few blocks from the Orange County Sheriff's Office.

Sheriff's Office investigators said Nguyen was known as the man in the area who would buy stolen cellphones and resell them in his booth.

During the course of the investigation, detectives said they learned people at other booths were buying stolen jewelry.

They said their focus is on Nguyen and said the cellphone burglaries and robbery have been on the rise in recent months.
