39-year-old man charged with fleeing police during traffic stop in Melbourne

MELBOURNE, Fla. — A 39-year-old man was arrested after he fled from police after a traffic stop in Melbourne, officers said.

Jorge Louis Rosado was stopped at 8:40 p.m. Tuesday after officers said he was behaving in an “impaired/injured manner,” a Melbourne Police Department news release said.

After he stopped, Rosado refused to turn off his vehicle or roll down his window, officers said.

When he would not get up when police ordered him out of his vehicle, police officers tried to remove him by force, the release said.

Rosado put the vehicle in drive and fled the scene, investigators said.

Officers disabled Rosado’s vehicle with stop sticks, but he continued to resist arrest and police used pepper spray and a Taser to subdue him.

Rosado was taken to the hospital as a precaution and then to the Brevard County Jail.

He was being held in lieu of a $20,000 bond on charges of aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer, fleeing or eluding a law enforcement
