4 arrested in Polk County growhouse bust

POLK COUNTY, Fla. - Four men were arrested Tuesday when Polk CountysSheriff's detectives busted a marijuana growhouse in Poinciana.

Investigators said narcotics detectives served a search warrant at the Rio Grande Court home where they found two upstairs bedrooms being used to grow marijuana.

According to investigators, detectives seized and destroyed 15 pounds of harvested marijuana and plant stalks. They also seized equipment that was used to grow the pot.

Investigators said electricity had been illegally diverted for use in the operation.

According to investigators, five adults and two children were in the house when detectives arrived.

The children were place in the custody of the Florida Department of Children and Families.

Investigators said homeowner Hector Diaz was taken into custody and charged with one count trafficking in cannabis; one count cultivation of cannabis with minor present; two counts child neglect; one count use of dwelling for drug trafficking; one count possession of drug paraphernalia.

Also arrested were Franciso Perez of Kissimmee, Daniel Rodriguez of Orlando and Luis Gonzalez-Lopez of Orlando.
