WINTER HAVEN, Fla. —

A Polk County woman says she feels lucky to be alive after a narrow brush with death.

Surveillance video shows Adrienne Watkins, 80, inside a Winter Haven CVS Pharmacy scoping out the candy in front of the cash register Thursday when a car crashed through the front door and knocked her to the ground.

An officer told her, if she had been out only a foot further, she would have been hit.

"Wow! I looked up and said, 'God, you've taken care of me. Thank you.' He was really working," Watkins said.

Watkins escaped with minor cuts and bruises.

The 84-year-old driver said she was backing out of a parking spot, but accelerated forward.

The driver was ticketed for careless driving.
