Alfred Angelo gives brides dresses 2 weeks after closure

ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. — Some brides who were jilted by the sudden closure of Alfred Angelo were able to pick up their dresses Friday.

Customers at the Altamonte Springs bridal store received an unexpected call from the company telling them they could come get their dresses, but only for a few hours.

A judge ruled the store had to open for a few hours to give brides the dresses they had paid for.

The bridal chain had nearly 60 stores nationwide and more than 1,400 retailers selling their bridal collection.

The company closed without warning, leaving many brides and bridesmaids without dresses.

Customer Amanda Grimsley stopped by the store Friday to pick up the veil she had bought for her wedding dress.

“I freaked out. Luckily, our dresses were paid in full, so I figured my problems wouldn’t be as serious as the other brides,” she said.

A police officer was inside the store for security.

“That’s why they were super secretive about this time frame today, because they have gotten mobs,” said Grimsley. “They have a cop for safety, for angry brides. Don’t blame them.”

No incidents of unruliness were reported.
