The Florida Highway Patrol said two drivers were killed in a head-on crash in east Orange County Friday evening.
The crash happened on E. Colonial Drive at State Road 520 just before 9 p.m., troopers said.
For an unknown reason, 75-year-old Clayton McCoy was driving his Lexus westbound in the eastbound lanes, according to FHP. McCoy crashed head-on into a Honda Accord, driven by 19-year-old Brian Lazaro.
Two emergency helicopters landed on the roadway to transport McCoy and Lazaro to Orlando Regional Medical Center. Officials said both victims were pronounced deceased at the hospital.
Troopers are trying to determine why McCoy was driving the wrong way on E. Colonial Drive.
The road was closed for several hours Friday night, but it has since reopened.
