Alleged officer impersonator arrested for second time in 1 week

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — A convicted con man is back in jail Monday after being accused of impersonating a law enforcement officer twice in the past week, officials said.

Orange County deputies said they arrested Charles Sanchez, 51, last Monday for demanding a free ride on a Lynx bus by flashing a fake probation officer badge.

Deputies said while out on bond Friday, he was arrested again.

Sanchez allegedly used a bogus FBI badge to extort money out of neighbors on Carlson Drive, deputies said.

"That's the whole thing that was so weird; we never saw any kind of indication that he was law enforcement. He would just kind of hint that he was FBI or DEA," said Brandon Haynes.

Sanchez remains jailed on $2,600 bail.
