Standoff ends after no suspect found in apartment

ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. — Police said a standoff has ended after an armed man was not found in an Altamonte Springs apartment he was believed to be barricaded in Sunday night.

SWAT team mebers entered the apartment shortly before 11 p.m. and the suspect, Zachary Raptoulis, was nowhere to be found, police said.

The incident started when the man's girlfriend called 911 from the Timberlake Apartments on Jamestown Boulevard, according to police. Officials said the girlfriend was able to get out of the apartment shortly after police arrived. Officials have not said why she initially called 911.

Police said the SWAT team and crisis negotiators were involved in the standoff. Officers evacuated the surrounding units at the apartment complex, but the residents have since been allowed back inside.

Officers are searching for Raptoulis and anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is asked to contact Altamonte Springs police.
