Armed man robs Burger King at drive-through

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — A man who held up an Orange County Burger King at gunpoint late Sunday night is still on the run, deputies said.

The robbery happened at the restaurant in the Hunters Creek area on South Orange Blossom Trail.

Investigators said the armed robber stuck a gun through the drive-through window, demanded cash and took off.

Investigators said they believe the robbery is connected to a robbery that happened Friday at a Circle K.

Deputies said there are many similarities between the robbery at the Burger King drive-through and the one that happened at the Circle K convenience store where the man calmly showed his gun to the clerk and demanded money.

The crimes in south Orange County are also similar to two last week in downtown Orlando - a Cumberland Farms store and a CVS pharmacy.

"The suspect description is similar, the description of the firearm and the M.O. is very similar," said Lt. Paul Hopkins of the Orange County Sheriff's Office.

Officers said the armed robber walked up to the Burger King drive-through window and demanded money, and then took off.

"Typically, people go into the business, but apparently on this occasion, the drive-through was open and the lobby was not. The robber took that opportunity to go up and rob them through the drive-through and flee on foot," Hopkins said.

The robber may have hopped into a white SUV that was waiting nearby, but investigators said are not certain of that.
Investigators said they are reviewing video from the Burger King.

Orange County detective say they'll review all similar cases in the area and try to determine just how many robbers might be out there, or if it's all one busy crook.
