ORLANDO, Fla. - Orlando police have arrested a man who they said followed a woman home as she was walking her dog and robbed her.

Dennis Nino, 24, was arrested Friday afternoon in the area of Semoran Boulevard and Grant Street, according to police.

The incident happened shortly before 9 p.m. Thursday at the Venetian Place apartment complex on Commander Drive close to South Semoran Boulevard.

Authorities said Nino was armed with a knife when he forced the woman back into her apartment, tied her up and ransacked the place before taking off.

"I came in from work last night and I saw the police and the crime scene van but I didn't know what was going on," said resident Michelle Pluguez.

According to police, the victim said she recognized Nino from the area.

Residents in the apartment complex said the area is known for crime.

"I've lived here for a couple years, and with a murder and other break-ins and everything, it doesn't seem like it's kind of changing," said Tom Calano.

Nino will be charged with home invasion robbery with a weapon and false imprisonment, police said.

Nino's 22-page criminal history shows he's been arrested for the same thing before. It also includes several robbery arrests and a false imprisonment arrest.

He is being held in the Orange County Jail.
