Armed men burglarize Mount Dora couple 3 times in 2 weeks, police say

MOUNT DORA, Fla. — Police in Mount Dora are on the lookout for a group of armed men caught on camera burglarizing a couple’s home for the third time in two weeks.

“We don’t typically get them returning that many times in one month, especially armed like that,” said Robert Bell, with the Mount Dora Police Department.

During each burglary, the couple would be asleep upstairs when the three masked men broke into their home, and the couple wouldn’t realize they’d been victimized until the next morning, investigators said. The men took money, a purse and other valuables, police said.

“This has been going on with the elderly couple upstairs sleeping, which is extremely concerning for us,” said Bell.

The armed burglaries happened on Nov. 9 through the 19, police said.

Fortunately, the men were caught on camera, and officers hope that by spreading the word, they can get the men off the street before someone gets hurt, police said.

Channel 9's Myrt Price asked if the suspects and victims know one another.

“Right now, everyone is a suspect, and we’re looking at every angle. Whether it’s family members, employees, people who live around the area,” Bell said.

“Help us and help the public, getting it out to the media outlets and watching those videos, and looking at those photos is crucial to us,” he said. “Hopefully, someone recognizes these guys and calls us.”

Police believe the three masked men are white, between the age of 18 to 25, and are around 5 feet 8 inches and 6 feet 1 inches tall.

The homeowners have not been hurt during the break-ins.

Crimeline is offering a $10,000 reward for information that helps police track down the culprits.
