Armed robber wearing spandex body suit attacks Subway worker

HOLLY HILL, Fla. — Holly Hill police said they are searching for an armed robber who was caught on camera roughing up a Subway restaurant worker.

According to authorities, the robber was wearing a spandex body suit with pants over it.

A witness told authorities he saw the robber put it on by a dumpster, and then run into the Subway.

911 Dispatch: "911, where is your emergency?"

Employee: "Yeah, I've just been robbed. I'm at the Subway."

Brittany Ballinger called 911 just after the man charged into the Subway where she works. Police said even though she complied with the man's demands, he jerked her around and jabbed her in the head with a gun.

"We believe that he targeted the Subway specifically. It was a lone female clerk. He was easily able to overpower her," said Chief Mark Barker of the Holly Hill Police Department.

"He told me to open the cash register and I opened the cash register, and he still threw me," said Ballinger.

Police said the robbery was unique, not just for how violent it was, but because the suspect was covered in spandex.

"We're hoping that individuals will recognize this subject's mannerisms, perhaps someone who recently purchased a Halloween costume or a suit of this type. Any information, we're asking for the public's help," said Barker.

After throwing Ballinger to the ground, the robber callously stepped on her as he jumped back over the counter and escaped with a bag of cash.

Police said the witness described the robber as a black man.

The Subway clerk had also been in a car crash that day, and then was robbed the same day. She is recovering in the hospital.
