WINTER GARDEN, Fla. - Police arrested one of two men accused of robbing a pawn shop in Winter Garden at gunpoint in October.
Winter Garden police said one of the men held employees and customers, including two young children, at gunpoint as the other smashed away at glass cases, stealing the items.
"Smashed the jewelry case and took roughly, I think, $44,000 in jewelry," said Sgt. Scott Allen.
The men took off using a getaway driver, leading police and several agencies on a chase into Lake County at speeds that topped 100 mph. The suspects then crashed the vehicle and fled into some nearby woods.
"Unfortunately, that night, they were able to get away," said Allen.
But police said they recently arrested 20-year-old Micka Phillips in connection with the crime. Police said he's the one with the hammer in the surveillance video.
After working some leads, police said they learned Phillips bought his gloves at an Orlando
Police are hoping to make additional arrests in the case soon.
