Attorney representing Pulse victim quits law firm

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Paul Zeniewicz, an attorney who represents Pulse shooting survivor Jillian Amador, no longer works at a Maitland-based law firm, Channel 9's Mike Manzoni confirmed Thursday.

Zeniewicz confirmed via text message that he quit the firm Wednesday but wouldn't give a reason.

He worked at the law firm Cohen Grossman in Maitland.

An Orange County judge on Tuesday denied his request to force an audit of the $29.5 million OneOrlando Fund. If granted, his request would have prevented 299 Pulse shooting victims and their families from receiving payouts.

Zeniewicz's resignation came two days after he faced tough questions from Eyewitness News at a news conference outside Pulse nightclub about the audit request.

Zeniewicz said at the news conference that he believed that the OneOrlando Fund had more than $29.5 million but offered no proof.

He's still representing Amador despite leaving the law firm.

Amador did not show up for Tuesday’s news conference.

9 Investigates found a copy of a legal motion filed by an attorney who represents OneOrlando fund administrator Kenneth Feinberg that requested Zeniewicz be reprimanded.

The motion said, "This meritless attempt to delay victim compensation and tarnish the reputation of Mr. Feinberg should be dismissed." The motion also said, "The court should admonish Ms. Amador's counsel for his noncompliance with Florida law and his obligation as a Florida lawyer."

Zeniewicz told Eyewitness News that he plans to withdraw his motion to force the OneOrlando fund audit. He said he'll instead wait to review the audit that was already planned for next month.
