Authorities searching for leads in Space Coast Flea Market fire

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — Brevard County deputies are hitting the streets in hopes of finding a burglar and possibly the person who burned down the Space Coast Flea Market.

Deputies said they have a few leads, but will need more information to identify a suspect.

Eyewitness News was with Brevard County Sheriff's Office agents Wednesday afternoon as they canvassed neighborhoods around the Skeeter Lagoon Family Grill and the Space Coast Flea Market looking for help identifying a man caught on surveillance video early Tuesday morning burglarizing Skeeter's shortly before someone set fire to the flea market.

"If we do identify a suspect, he will be questioned in regards to the arson," said Deputy Brett Lockhart.

Deputies can't say if there is a link yet, but they're hoping someone can help them answer that question, maybe someone they left a flier for Wednesday.

"It could be one of our neighbor(s), home around here, you know what I'm saying?" said resident Angela George. "And we're a pretty tight-knit community."

It makes the dual investigation personal -- and not just to the burglary victim, or the merchants whose businesses were consumed by flames.

"It's a big impact. We've lived here all our lives. I mean, that's been a part of history," said resident Ashley Edmondson.

Deputies are investigating in conjunction with the state fire marshal's office.
