BB gun vandals target cars, businesses in Ormond Beach

ORMOND BEACH, Fla. — Police in Ormond Beach are on the hunt for a group of vandals accused of shooting out windows all over the city using BB guns.

Since November, there have been 38 different reports of vandalism, where cars, businesses and even homes were targeted.

"All the glass was busted out, it was all over the show room," Rod Gammon, owner of Rod's Carpet, Tile & Wood, said.

Residents and business owners in Ormond Beach are frustrated after having to repair thousands of dollars in damage caused by vandals with BB guns.

"Somebody has basically run amuck with a BB gun or BB rifle around here and been shooting out windows in vehicles and in businesses," Lt. Keith Feder with Ormond Beach police said.

No one has been injured by the vandals but in one report, a car window was shot out while the victim was driving.

"It is not just vandalism. You are shooting at a car with someone inside. They could lose their eyesight, they could lose control of their vehicle," Feder said.

Police said they don't have a description of the suspects and they're looking to see if businesses have surveillance video that could give them clues.
