Bob Opsahl reunites with a former Wednesday's Child

ORLANDO, Fla. — In 1986, Bob Opsahl reported on a baby girl who was born premature and was available for adoption.

The story was part of a series called Wednesday’s Child, which highlighted special needs foster children in need of a forever family.

Opsahl featured more than 500 children during the Wednesday’s Child series, finding many of them permanent homes.

Thirty years later, Opsahl reunited with that baby girl he held in his arms. She was adopted because of his story.

Courtney Williams was adopted by a single mother, who transformed her into a beautiful, successful woman.

It was a wonderful reunion.

“As I took her on a tour of Channel 9, she told me about her life after Wednesday's Child,” Opsahl said.

Courtney blossomed from baby, to toddler, to high school graduate, to college graduate, with her single mother by her side.

"My mom gave me everything she had. That's the best… You know?" Williams said.

Williams is a school teacher, who loves to spread the message of adoption as a good thing.

As a baby, Opsahl gave Williams a kiss on her head, and did the same 30 years later.
