Boy, 12, injured in Cocoa shooting

COCOA, Fla. — Three people are in custody after a 12-year-old boy was shot in the leg in Cocoa Thursday, according to investigators.

The boy suffered non-life-threatening injuries and is in stable condition.

He was shot on A Lane and State Road 520.

Deputies were told by witnesses that the suspects fled the area in a red, Chrysler 300 that was heading toward State Road 520.

They said the found the car on Calvado Drive and detained three people who are being interviewed by deputies.

Investigators said the boy was the target of the alleged shooter, but they have not discussed any possible motive.

He was taken to Arnold Palmer Hospital.
