BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. - Crews have reopened State Road A-1-A after a gas leak shut the road down for much of Tuesday afternoon.
A gas leak forced nearby businesses on North Highway A-1-A near Indialantic to evacuate, authorities said.
It was reported that a 4-inch gas line was broken by a crew working for Florida Power and Light.
A-1-A was shut down in both directions from Grosse Pointe Avenue to Washington Avenue, officials said.
According to Florida Power and Light, a contractor was installing a new concrete utility pole at the site. They said they are working with the contractor and local authorities to determine the cause of the accident.
The road reopened just before 5 p.m.
