WINTER PARK, Fla. — Three people broke into a Winter Park pawn shop early Friday and made off with a shotgun and a handgun, police said.
The incident was reported at about 5:45 a.m. at Mike’s Pawn Shop in the 2100 block of West Fairbanks Avenue.
The burglars broke open one of the business’ doors and opened a safe where the weapons were being stored, police said.
“We don’t want any guns to get into the wrong hands, obviously,” said Lt. Pamela Marcum, with the Winter Park Police Department.
The individuals fled the scene in a light-colored, four-door Dodge Ram pickup truck, investigators said.
“Obviously we are concerned because there is a gun out there, but as far as overall, this being a threat to public safety at large, you know, it’s undetermined,” Winter Park police Lt. Pamela Marcum said.
An investigation into the burglary is continuing.
