Oviedo smash-and-grab burglars had eyes on ATM, authorities say

SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. — The Seminole County Sheriff's Office is investigating the burglary of a CVS Pharmacy in Oviedo early Friday morning.

Authorities said two men used a stolen truck to smash through the front door of the pharmacy along Red Bug Lake Road near State Road 426.

Surveillance video showed a white passenger van and white Ford F250 pickup truck entering the parking lot about 2:45 a.m. The truck then backed into the front of the business, smashing the front doors.

The two masked burglars then ran into the pharmacy, and investigators said they believe the pair intended to remove an ATM machine, but it was so crumpled as a result of the crash that the men left it, fleeing with nothing.

"This is very unusual, it's a quiet area of town," said Kim Cannaday of the Seminole County Sheriff's Office. "I don't think I've ever seen anything like that in that area."

Authorities said the pickup truck was recently reported stolen from Greenbriar Landscaping in Winter Garden.

Anyone with information regarding the burglary is asked to call CrimeLine at 800-423-TIPS or the Seminole County Sheriff's Office at 407-665-6650.
