I-4 reopens in Volusia County after car fire

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — I-4 in Volusia County has reopened after a car fire caused major traffic delays Saturday morning, according to officials.

The car caught fire on the shoulder of the eastbound lanes near mile marker 125 around 11 a.m.

The car burned for several minutes before fire rescue crews arrived on scene, causing heavy smoke in the area, according to witnesses.

Officials said everyone got out of the vehicle safely and no one was injured.

The eastbound lanes were briefly closed while firefighters put out the fire, but traffic is back up to speed. There's no word on what caused the car fire.
