Carjacking suspects crash into Orange County house

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. - Friday afternoon, Orange County deputies spotted the car that was stolen from a woman at gunpoint Tuesday. But investigators said when they tried to pull the car over, the driver sped off and later crashed into a home on Minoso Street in Orlando.

Joseph Harris lives in the house that the car crashed into. The single father of two wasn't home when the crash happened, and neither were his children.

"I usually sit out on the porch. Glad I wasn't there today," said Harris.

Deputies took three people into custody at the scene.

Lilly Harris lives next door to Harris. She heard the stolen car crash into her neighbor's home.

"We looked out and we saw the policemen standing there with their guns extended," said Harris. "We have our kids here, you know, and normally by that time they're out of school and riding their bikes."

Deputies said two of the men taken into custody on Friday ambushed a woman walking along the east trail in Barnett Park on Tuesday. They said the two forced her to the ground at gunpoint, stole her phone and the stole her car.

Deputies spotted the car in Pine Hills and chased the suspects to the Washington Shores neighborhood. Investigators said no one was injured in the crash.

"I'm like, 'Oh my God.' It really could have been much, much worse than what actually happened," said Harris.

Authorities have not released the names of the carjacking victim or those of the three people taken into custody.
