Central Florida marches for science at Lake Eola

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Dozens of people in Central Florida took part in a nationwide movement to rally on Earth Day and push for scientific freedom without political interference.

The rally at Lake Eola Saturday was part of the “March for Science.”

Scientists and their supporters are demanding that politicians stop ignoring science when making policy, provide adequate funding for scientists to achieve breakthroughs and recognize the value of scientific pursuits.

President Donald Trump issued an Earth Day statement, saying that "rigorous science depends not on ideology, but on a spirit of honest inquiry and robust debate."
