Charges refiled against former corrections officer accused of having sex with inmate

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — A former Orange County corrections officer accused of having sex with an inmate on the job has been arrested again.

Charges against Michael Dean were dropped in April, but they were refiled June 16.

Dean was arrested Friday and bonded out of jail later in the day.

He’s accused of having sexual relationship with an inmate.

Prosecutors told the judge during Dean’s court appearance Friday that Dean was a midnight shift supervisor at the Work Release Center and that the victim had sex with Dean because of his power.

According to court documents, corrections officials were tipped off about the relationship in an anonymous letter in February 2015.

The victim said that in exchange for sex, Dean gave her money and special favors not afforded to other inmates.

Channel 9 contacted his attorney for comment, but has not heard back.
