Child diagnosed with H1N1 while visiting Orlando set to return home

ORLANDO, Fla. — A 7-year-old girl, who was visiting central Florida from Pennsylvania when she caught a serious case of the flu, could be able to go home as soon as Friday.

Her parents say she is expected to fully recover and doctors have moved her out of the Intensive Care Unit at Florida Hospital for Children in Orlando.

Last month, Channel 9 reported on Jaylea Heim after she caught H1N1 while her family was here visiting the theme parks.

"We ended up in the ER, three-week stay in the hospital, and the vacation was cut short and everyone had to go home, and nobody got to any parks or anything," said Leah Heim, Jaylea's mother.

Florida Department of Health Orange County representatives said most cases of the flu this year involve the H1N1 strain.

They said the number of cases has started to decline over the last three weeks.
