The shooting happened late Monday.
The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office says off-duty officers working at a hospital received information that the child was being treated. They alerted dispatch and officers were sent to the scene. They found that the child was playing on the porch around 11 p.m. and was struck in the arm by a bullet.
The Florida Times-Union reports witnesses say a car drove by and fired multiple shots. A relative took the child to the hospital.
