ORLANDO, Fla. - A child jumped into a lagoon near the Dr. Seuss ride at Universal Islands of Adventure Tuesday, according to a theme park representative.
Officials said the child's mother jumped in after him and they both were OK.
WFTV talked to a witness who said at one point the mother was frantic.
Franklin Munoz said the mother was treading water when she went in to rescue her son.
A barrier wall
separates the guest area from the lagoon, and it's unclear how the young boy ended up in the water.
"Right after the kid fell in, the mother starting screaming, 'My son! My son!' And she jumped in, a crowd gathered," Munoz said.
"How deep was water?" WFTV reporter Kathi Belich asked.
"About 6 feet," Munoz said.
Munoz told WFTV he was ready to jump in, but then someone came along and helped them out of the water.
Universal said there is a barrier there and a warning sign, so no changes are anticipated at the park because of what happened.
